Allergen & Quality Testing

Allergen & Quality Testing

At Huxley Europe, patient safety and transparency are central to how we manufacture and supply Hux-D3 Vitamin D3 capsules.

We conduct independent laboratory testing and maintain documented allergen control procedures to provide assurance to patients, pharmacists, and NHS partners.

Independent Laboratory Allergen Testing

Allergen analysis has been carried out by an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory.

Two complementary analytical methods were used:

ELISA (protein-based detection)
PCR (DNA-based detection)

ELISA Allergen Testing (Protein Detection)

The following allergens were tested:

* Gluten (R5 method)
* Soya
* Sesame
* Egg

Results

* Gluten: <5 ppm (Not detected above reporting limit)
* Soya: <10 mg/kg (Not detected above reporting limit)
* Sesame: <2 mg/kg (Not detected above reporting limit)
* Egg: <0.25 mg/kg (Not detected above reporting limit)

These results support the absence of these allergens in the tested batch.

Nut & Peanut and Other Allergen Testing (PCR DNA Method)

The following allergens were tested:

Almond, Brazil Nut, Cashew Nut, Hazelnut, Peanut, Pecan, Pistachio Nut, Macadamia / Queensland Nut, Walnut, Lupin, Fish, Triticum aestivum (common wheat)

Results

All allergens listed above were reported as: Not Detected

No evidence of nut or peanut DNA was identified in the tested batch at or above validated limits of detection.

What “Not Detected” Means

A result reported as:

“Not Detected”
or “< reporting limit”

means that the allergen was not detected at or above the validated sensitivity of the laboratory method.

Analytical testing cannot prove absolute zero presence, but confirms that if present at all, levels are below the laboratory’s validated limit of detection.

Manufacturing Allergen Controls

In addition to laboratory testing:

* Supplier allergen declarations are obtained for all raw materials
* Documented allergen risk assessments are maintained
* Segregation, cleaning, and line clearance controls are implemented
* Nuts and peanuts are not used as ingredients in Hux-D3

Testing complements, but does not replace, documented allergen management procedures.

Certificates can be shared on application

Kosher and Halal Assurance

We also employ independent auditors to assess and verify that the sourcing of ingredients and relevant manufacturing processes are suitable for kosher and halal dietary requirements. This includes review of raw material origins, processing aids, and manufacturing controls to ensure alignment with recognised dietary compliance standards.

Where applicable, certification documentation can be made available upon request.

Source and Bioavailability of Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol)

The Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) used in Hux-D3 is derived from lanolin obtained from sheep’s wool.

The lanolin is sourced exclusively from sheep that are humanely farmed in Europe. Wool is collected as part of routine animal husbandry practices (shearing), and no animals are harmed for the purpose of obtaining the raw material.

Following purification and controlled processing, cholecalciferol is produced in accordance with applicable quality and safety standards. Full supplier documentation and traceability records are maintained within our quality management system.

Why Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) is Used

Vitamin D3 (colecalciferol/ cholecalciferol) is the same molecular form of vitamin D that is naturally produced in human skin following exposure to sunlight.

  • Clinical and pharmacokinetic studies have demonstrated that Vitamin D3:
    Raises and maintains serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels more effectively than Vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol)
  • Has a longer duration of action in the body
  • Produces more stable circulating vitamin D concentrations
  • For these reasons, Vitamin D3 is the form most commonly used in UK clinical practice and nutritional supplementation.
  • Lanolin-derived Vitamin D3 is widely used in pharmaceutical and nutritional applications.
